Mighty Orbots! Actually a pretty obscure 80's cartoon, by TMS, who also did Bionic Six.
It came before B6, and had a short run, supposedly because the GoBots came out, and I guess they were too similar and there was some legal action, I believe.
The animation was actually some of the best at that time...done by Japan.
If you haven't seen it, look it up...there's full videos out there. The quality won't be that great, but you'll get an idea.
