Wolvie and Jeanie colored by RyanOdagawa Wolvie and Jeanie colored by RyanOdagawa
I originally did the b/w last year, but I've been itching to practice coloring, so I decided to color up older pieces. I'll probably do some more soon.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Ryan

edit: Here's the revision with the less purply skin. I think this works better.

Very nice coloring so far. The only thing I can really say is to use like a variation of colors to make it more interesting, vibrant and lively.

Yeah! Looks much better! Ain't it fun to play with colors? I love it too man (esp after so many years of b/w comic book work). Great job! More!

looks good Ryan! I would just say that the skin tones look a bit pinkish/purplish. I think the green/blue background makes the pinkish feel more pronounced. Also, I wouldn't even mind the skin tones at all if the rest of the costumes also had a cooler feel to them to match. Easy fix with Photoshop, right? But I think you did a great job. More, more!

Thanks Andy! I posted an edit...I fixed the skin tone. Let me know if it's still too purple or if it's ok.

I'm gonna work on doing more for my sketchbook next year. I'm gonna try to do a color one.

You're on the right path for colors, cause you know where to place shadows and lights, but it looks pale.
When giving shadows and lights try to move from your base color to darker colors on the colors wheels. You know, when shadowing an eggy yellow like that one, give it shadows that fade into orange (but not too saturated) and lights that fade into a greener yellow, of course a whiter tone. That way it makes the piece look more lively :) It's specially useful when coloring comic-style figures. Also for the skin, I think it would look more lively if it was more orange; try to shdaow it in more redish tones instead of purples, Otherwise it looks kind of plastic.
Keep them coming! =)
